5 Ways to Celebrate Summer in Australia

Summer is fast approaching and Australians are so looking forward to celebrating being in that glorious sun again but also being together with family and friends! Australia does celebrate Christmas in the summer, and we wanted to share 5 ways to do it outside!

  1. Picnics

Going on a picnic, whether it's at the park or at the beach, it will certainly bring back the memories of the good times (pre and end of lockdown!). Having a BBQ with the any gourmet sausages beautiful steaks or kebabs/stewers, even that Australian Prawn or Moreton Bay Bug is a much-loved new tradition. Christmas pudding, cold ham and roast turkey and fresh sashimi salmon adds to this celebrated outdoor meal. Many top up the good food with a cold Rose, craft beers or a glass of bubbly. Literally spreading this picnic cheer will certainly perk up anyone’s summer.

  1. The Beach

As a lot of Australians reside within a beach area, this is a well-loved destination for rest and relaxation, most especially during the summer. Taking a dip in the hot weather in the refreshing Australian waters, with family and friends, will definitely cool down the rising temperatures. Summer at the beach is an outright contrast to the northern hemisphere’s snowy Christmas, but it surely has its advantages. Among the popular beach destinations are Belongil, Cabarita, Jervis Bay, Bondi, Manly and Palm Beach in New South Wales, Torquay, Brighton and Sorrento in Victoria, Rottnest Island,  Cable, Cottesloe, Mullaloo and Esperance in Western Australia, and Palm Cove, White haven, Noosa, Burleigh or Broadbeach in Queensland and  the Gold Coast.

  1. Cricket

This bat-and-ball game is very famous in Australia, and you see it played in every place, such as at the park, at the beach, in the streets, and in the home’s backyard. The clear weather during the summer is a perfect time for a cricket game for both adults and children alike.

  1. Australian Landscapes

There are a lot of outdoor activities that can be done, given Australia’s rich natural environment. Surrounded all throughout by vast oceans, it boasts of long stretches of coast lines and abundant marine life. Australia hosts the Great Barrier Reef on its east coast, and boasts of marvellous diving and snorkelling experience, especially with its incredible corals, manta rays, turtles, and whales. With its mainland and geological landscapes, Australia offers amazingly diverse sceneries, such as mountain ranges, escarpments, wide desert plains, rocky gorges, and the vast outback. Summer is the ideal time to explore these breathtaking destinations, such as the Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the Red Centre, the hiking trails of Tasmania, the sea lions, koalas, and kangaroos in Kangaroo Island, the unique wildlife in Western Australia, and the crabs and whale sharks in Christmas Island.

  1. Sydney Yachts

Every 26th of December, the yearly prestigious Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race happens in our spectacular Sydney Harbour. Amidst the deep blue waters and clear horizon are the gorgeous and elegant yachts. This sailing event is enjoyed, not just by Australians, but by sailing enthusiasts across the globe.
